Chapter: Chapter 19 - The Big Night
Characters: Sabrina Mancini, Sun Wong
This may be an instance where TOO much time might be a bad thing for Sabrina. I mean, if she had to fight De Sade in five minutes, she wouldn’t have time to over think things, which I think all young people are prone to do after suffering such big disappointment.
And another way people, young and old, deal with disappointment and frustration is with anger.

Looks like some reverse pyche from Sun to motivate Sabrina out of her current funk and not lose the match before it starts. Based on the VI, Sun maybe lay off literally shaking some sense into Sabrina just to avoid anymore head issues lol.
Got to agree with Sun here. Sabrina backs out of her match with DeSade, she’s going to let down her fans a lot more than if she goes out there, after taking that beatdown and go down swinging. Win or lose, she’s going to open up some eyes if she can go out there and hang with De Sade after everything that’s happened, even if she loses. Besides, she has the upper hand in that it’s an “I Quit” match. And how had is it to make a French person give up? (Lol, joke)
Looks like De Sade is winning the match right now and it has not even started yet. heh heh heh. One loss…one messily loss has already brought past losses. Great, I love it. De Sade definitely has the Psychological edge going into this match. Of Course Sabrina can do the smart thing and listen to Sun’s advice in the last Panel and not show up. That will do everyone a favor.
The Fans will not see a blood bath. De Sade does not have to waste her time or talent. And Sabrina gets to walk out of the arena and not disappoint the fans by stinking again. Everyone wins…except the commish.

If I was Sabrina’s trainer, I’d be kicking her butt right now.
Sabrina has a right to be upset, to be disappointed, and given how cowardly the Hells Belles have been with their ambush, she thought this was her chance to prove her worth. And you know, she did, she totally did, she put up a hell of a fight against as wrestler who was stronger, had more experience, and had two helping her outside the ring. Cat had all the advantages, and Sabrina still almost won, it takes guts to go against the odds, courage, and Sabrina has that by the bucket load, and I know she’ll step up again against that loser De Sade; she sure as hell has more class.
And you know what, she deserves to have her friends there to pick her up as well! She deserves to have Sun give her some tough love and dust her off, she deserves that support. Since she got into the big leagues, she has given the other Upstarts nothing but her backing, nothing but her help, nothing but her support, even when some of them were plotting against her! She has been a friend to them, and now their being friends back.
Come on Sabrina, suck it up, your Fans are with you!!
Love the reverse Psychology Sun is playing. Oh, and Sabrina, while you’re at it… Don’t give me the money for Donuts tomorrow that you aren’t going to be hungry for.

I’m so glad that they aren’t going to sit there and lick her wounds. The tough love is a nice approach but really Sabrina is showing just how immature and over all self centered she is, in a way it rival’s Brooke’s. But she throws a fit and act all betrayed when her friend (who told everyone in the beginning what she wanted to do) joined a stable. Yeah she used her but really would Sabrina have helped Sun out in that without a fuss? And she’s not the only one who has a match that night, instead of thinking of I don’t know cheering her friends on she’s thinking about herself and her little pity party. If her fans could see their Ultragirl now they’d see just how ultra she isn’t and might stop cheering. I could see the insulting signs now. But what can we say Kat showed her worth there and deserved that title.
Oh well the world keeps spinning.
panel 1 and 2- Hello Brina! for all your support for the other Upstarts when they lost don;t you think they oh might be familiar with the idea of looking up at the lights already and understand what you’re going through.
panel 3- “prove yourself?” who came into the place had a (canonically) months long undefeated streak, came out of nowhere to make it to the finals of the TV tourney and nearly pulled it off even with all the distractions of the Belles and another match later on to throw you off? oh wait that was you. You’re last name’s not Goldberg you know. what’s next be upset you’re not taking on the brenda/Widow winner for your next match?
panel 4- ok i’m with you, winning your first title anywhere is a huge moment especially making it through developemntal without one. but all those losses should get it through your head that losing isn;t the end all. i mean you made it to RA despite all those losses right? set her straight Sun! Where’s Krystin at? the one who REALLY has a worrry about a loss meaning banishment to development to set her straight.
panel 5 <starts paintbrushing Brina> don’t know why you’re here? wasn’t it your dream to make it here? aren’t you one of the most popular faces in RA even in enemy teritory as it were. what exactly do you have to be ashamed about?!?!
panel 6 and 7- sun’s right. if Brina walks into that match a wreck like this she’ll get carted off in a stretcher. of course Sun must get Brina ticked off and calling her a quitter might do it. i think Marina and Sun had a little coaching powwow before Marina left.

I think she should give up the match and not fight unless she can get her head into it. Right now she is going to take a beat down because her confidence is shot. If however someone can knock some sense into her it will be much better.

I think Sabrina’s going to win the DeSade match. It’ll be tough, but she’ll be motivated. Just wondering how she’s going to be *after* the match, though.
Here’s a turning point in her life and career. Does she have the right stuff to get out there? I think she does. But she’s going to need help to see it right now. So in a way this match depends as much on Sun as anything!
Okay, Mo Chen is SOOOOO jealous right now! The las’ time I got my butt kicked in the ring (got totally stomped by Bomber Becka trying to take her W.F.W. Women’s belt), I didn’t look anywhere near as good as Sabrina does right now (and she took a PILEDRIVER!) Joke aside boss, the art is top notch!
Sabrina, hun… everyone is riding you right now for being so.. um… defeatist? Ya, that’s the word. Mo Chen is in same basket. I have had a rough week. Lost to Becka, lost a handicap match against a tag-team, losing another tag team match despite my partner’s best efforts… I had a horrible week. At least I thought I did. But, on the flipside. I fought another handicap match against a tag-team (and a married couple at that!) and STOMPED them both! And I picked up the E.W.E. Thunderdome belt. Sometimes when we are defeated… we forget our victories.
You beat Angel Soprano, Xtina Carpenter, etc. to get that title shot. You, a rookie, of all people were in a match that ring vets got knocked of!
Hokay, I’m done kissing you butt. Now, off the couch – suck down a protein drink and GO GET DE SADE!

I think Sabrina’s self doubt is very believable. Nicely played, Alan!
Its normal to have self doupt at this point, specialy with the path Brina followed since her arrival. But Sun is talking well here, and im sure its a matter of time to be able to motivate Brina enough for that match, if she can do that Brina will make a good match. I dont remember if its gonna be a cage I quit match?? If its a cage oe, Desade maybe though, but she gonna loose her helper here, gonna be only Sabrina versus Desade, no interuption, good thing for Brina. I think Brina still have chance to win that match, she is usualy really determined, like someone else said, will depend if Sun and others friends can pump her up enough.
I had a great idea for motivating her, but she already has a cake. 🙁 Okay then… ::takes a deep breath and points at the life-sized frosted cake diorama he made of Sabrina mushing Chloe’s face into a bowl of banana pudding:: Sabrina, do you see that? It took me hours to bake and HOURS to assemble. You would not believe how many batches of frosting it took to get everyone’s outfits and skin tones right. It is a work of art. It is a shrine, and the number of locals praying at it has only grown since that match with Kat. AND IF YOU DON’T GET YOUR BEANS OUT THERE AND MAKE THIS HAPPEN I AM GONNA FEED YOU EVERY LAST BIT OF THIS THING WITH A BENT FORK! ::grin:: Just remember that.
Totally agree with Jabber it looks like Sun is using reverse psychology here to put Sabrina back on the right track. Although if it starts to get physical Brooke might have to step in. lol

Ronin, that’s a great point about showing up for the fight and letting the chips fall where they may. Sabrina didn’t give up in the alleyway when the Belles were beating her down and she won’t know, if Sun can help it.
BBD, conversely, I think the opposite would be kind of unbelievable…that if Sabrina was like, ‘oh well, just my first title match….no big deal. Who’s next?’ But Chloe, as usual has the advantage and their match hasn’t even started. Indeed, just wait til we see De Sade next. 😉 But you don’t think the fans will be upset if they don’t see their ‘hometown hero’ fight?

Goldengirl that is all very true! All really good points and the sort of stuff that Sabrina needs to remember when she’s going into that steel cage with De Sade. And I think it’s that sort of support that will get Sabrina up and at ’em. It’s good to have friends.

MGC, the very question of Sabrina’s ability to make the main event will be put before Gabrielle, so you will get to see what she has to say about it.
SotC, to be fair, Sabrina was there for her roommates when they lost their matches, even when they lied and plotted against her. And she’s 22 years old with 2 months pro wrestling experience, so it’s good that the immaturity is coming across. She’ll live but it remains to be seen if this experience is going to help her in the long run. *Everyone* experiences self-doubt whether they voice it or not.
That is a nice breakdown, jpiv. I think you, Goldengirl, Sun and Marina would have Sabrina up in no time. It’s a very logical point but she’s feeling very emotional, anti-logical if you will. And great point about Krystin! She hasn’t told anyone about that, but expect it to come up soon. Sabrina’s trying to make things better by piling up more on herself, but it’s too bad for her that Sun don’t play that.

darkmark, I think that’s a very good question about how Sabrina will be after the match, should it come off. She’s relatively okay now, but who knows what’s going to happen after something like that.
Champ, I agree that this is a big moment for Sabrina. I do think that if Sabrina can make it, she won’t half-ass it. She’ll be there or she won’t. Of course, then there’s the little problem of De Sade…

Svan, it’s a steel cage, I Quit match, so the idea is that no one gets in and out. But you know those tricky Belles. They always seem to be holding an ace card up their sleeve. If they’re not cheating, they’re not trying! LOL Sabrina’s determination is an asset, she just needs to remember that.
Cookie Ogre, I think that would inspire the most downtroden of folks. However, I can think of worse things then eating delicious cake. XD
RAWF, I know Brooke would like to break up a fist fight between Sabrina and Sun, but she’s not that crazy. LOL Yeah, the smart money is on reverse psychology. I mean, can you really see Sun actually suggesting Sabrina to no-show? No, little heel, rule breaking, Damage Inc, Lil Dragon would have much more creative ideas than no-showing. Plus, Sun wouldn’t feel that she’d need Sabrina’s permission either or even inform her of these ‘creative ideas.’ 😉

So here’s the real Sabrina Mancini. But before we get to this, how about a short recap on the Upstarts’ story so far?
4. Krystin Moline–When she introduced herself, Krystin said, “The right people finally saw my skills and got their heads out of their asses and brought me up.” So what has she done since being brought up from the RA farm system?
Well, there was that Rookie Rumble–nah, she didn’t have that many moments there.
She did get squashed by the Otaku–no, I remember Brooke more for that.
She is in a feud with Sara Valentine–no, Sara’s been carrying that feud on the promo side of things.
Almost every event Krystin is involved in, she is being overshadowed by somebody else. Yes, Krystin is a good wrestler, but it’s apparent the reason developmental was reluctant to recommend her is because she has little charisma. She’s Shelton Benjamin without the amateur background and flashy moves. Sure, Shelton was good on the midcard and got a few title runs, but when it was time to move up, his poor mic skills cost him every time. Krystin is not so lucky. I’d venture to say that if you erased her from the comic, would anybody notice? If she stayed in RA, she’d be stuck in lower midcard hell for the rest of her life, jobbing to every rookie supernova Gabrielle puts her up against. When she gets restless, just throw her a midcard title run to shut her up for a while.
3. Brooke Lennox–Yes, the only reason she was brought up and why she has her current gimmick is due to her being a filthy home-wrecker. Yes, she may be nothing more than a hoss whose best matches will be against good wrestlers willing to make up for her lack of skill. However, you can’t deny that she is running with this gimmick as hard as she can. Plus, she makes a great cowardly heel. Remember kids, anybody can wrestle. It’s getting yourself noticed that’s the hard part.
2. Sabrina Mancini–So Sabrina was (and probably still is) a jabroni after all. She never held a title because she was too busy being “enhancement talent” or being stuck in midcard hell. I bet that feud against Danielle Perfection was a good-bye present for jobbing so much.
There has to be a reason she’s never been a champion in the lower levels. Maybe she’s doomed to be the plucky, squeaky-clean underdog who’s striving for something, but something or someone always gets in the way. Only through her never say die attitude can she overcome the odds and find success.
Unfortunately, that storyline takes a long time to build correctly, anything can go wrong during that time, and there’s a short window of time where the face has to win or the fans won’t care. Two and a half months isn’t enough time to pull that off on a newbie.
Maybe she really isReiko Hinomoto with some Fragile Speedster thrown in. She did get her nickname by getting her butt kicked.

Not ready for the Rival Angels? Are you kidding? Sabrina got to a final during her first run of matches, she almost captured a belt without losing a single match! Luck won’t carry you that far, she has guts, skill, determination and she has beaten some darn good opponents along the way. People are getting on her back because she wears her heart on her sleeve? Because she can be upset? Seriously, I dare anyone to not be upset after the last few weeks she’s had, I would like to see how many people here would pick themselves up and carry on after being ambushed and hospitilised in a back ally!
Sabrina is the real deal, she has the skill, she has the charisma, and yes, she is still learning. She’s a rookie for goodness sake, and she’s already kicking all kinds of ass! How good is she going to be once she has the same experience as the oppoenents she’s currently facing?
Sabrina is the future of Rival Angels (and Sun), end of story.

IN an effort to explan myself Al while i dont readily advise the use of the darkside of the force as its generaly too wasteful in as you expend much more energy doing so unless properly channelled and focused Im adviseing Bree to do so here just this once as she’s running on an negitive emotional high that unless she redeems here self in the eyes of the management and the fans and her self she will continue to spiral down into the pit of self loathign and pity and she wont live up to her potenial and ultamatly lose all that she has worked so hard for and yes i would perfer her to snap out of this little pity party she throwingher self and fight how she really is able to but i dont see that happening at this junction in time
