Chapter: Chapter 7 - Armageddon Annhilation

Chaos IN and OUT of the ring! The Belles in the ring are better off, utilizing the numbers game and now the introduction of a chair. The Upstarts haven’t been anything resembling a team, but can they get it together before it’s too late?

If I were Sun, I wouldn’t definitely be insulted; thin mints are horrible.
Almost makes me wonder why Sun would jump in to help Brooke then again maybe she really hates the nickname Thin Mint. Should have said Oatmeal Cream I guess.
I don’t know if Sun is helping or if Amanda simply likes to antagonize members of other groups. But the benefit to the rest of the Belles is apparent: if Sun is paying attention and scrapping with the largest target on the field, she can’t deal with everything else that’s going on.
Actually, that might be an example of Breaker properly following orders. The Belles under CDS got ambushed enough by Sun because they ignored or forgot about her. Putting a wall in front of Sun means that they have eyes on her at all times. In that case, Kat’s definitely applying the lessons learned from earlier encounters.
I think it’s safe to say that while Krystin was looking out for Brooke, Sun does not feel the same about either of them. Sabrina might even be a question mark at this point. Well…. 😛
And then when things start to get really outta hand, Sabrina comes in to save the day and uses Sting’s entrance from the ceiling with the bat!
Now if Sabrina shows up maybe the Rival Angels will form their own group. Is this a call to arms?

The price for not listening to Kat is severe. DeSade might not be around but the old ways die hard.
So Brooke is The Darren Young of Nexus. I just hope BROOKE REMAINS A HEEL AFTERWARDS. Like her more as a heel then a possible face. Pretty upset of how this match went when you have a heel stable outside and they allow their member to lose. Sucks!

Most of the time, no one’s sure if Brooke HAS a face. She’d never pull off BEING a face.
The problem with heels is that they can’t be trusted and she just learned that the hard way. Now can we talk Albone into doing a mirror universe and see what would have happened if Brooke had won?
Hmmm…how would that work out if Brooke won? I suspect civil war in Hell’s Belles ala the Rock and Farooq in the Nation of Domination.
Hell’s Belles have never promised to be the most supportive group, but I will say now that there was a plan that went beyond simple numbers. After all, they interfered a few times already. The plan was to make Krystin blink but when it came down to it, Brooke reached her limit before Krystin.
Yeah…like no one saw this coming. I guess this is what Brooke gets for losi g the match. 🙁

Nothing is ever over in the world of wrestling. Heck I just saw a story where a 60+ year old wrestler is back fighting. Every time you think they are gone they come back.

Definitely did not see them turning on Brooke coming. Then again, since this has happened, anyone still want to say she’s the leader of Hell’s Belles? No? I thought not.
That said, there’s no way in Hades I’ll ever root for Brooke. She can try to play nice now, but I still don’t like her as a person.
Oh got it figured out now. They are like a pack of dogs. If the lead dog shows weakness someone will challenge them for the leadership. Woof Woof Helles Belles.
Looks like the Belles were treating this as her ‘initiation’, blatantly unfair (expecting her to win a title on her first go, that their present leader LOST). Or it was planned all along… appealing to Brooke’s vanity makes her easy to manipulate.
MGC would probably chime in that this could be Chloe planning from behind the scenes. It IS possible, but it really comes down to whether Kat wants to be the top banana or is more loyal (or just doesn’t want to lead).
I do wonder where this leaves Brooke. Her ‘triumphant return’ has turned into a disaster of epic fail, it looks like her corner muscle Amanda Breaker is staying with the Belles and she’s burned a lot of bridges. Krystin is pretty much the only person she has unambiguously on her side left. Tarrasque has a good point — at this point it’s hard to root for Brooke even if she tries a face turn. While the heel/face revolving door is in vogue in WWE and TNA, the premise of RA is that wrestling is real, and that while surely some theatrics are involved (Sun actually made a point to get into character a while back), who is allied with whom is not dictated by bookers with short attention spans. Albone has shown he does long term planning, and it will take a lot to make anyone trust Brooke again.
Brooke doesn’t have to be liked for people to want her to beat Hell’s Belles if it comes to that. They can hope for her to do some damage, and then she can go away. Or, maybe she likes the positive attention and decides to keep going on a path of redemption. Brooke can also be manipulated into behaving a certain way, if somebody tried. Let’s not forget DefTech herself going berserk on Sara Valentine because she thought her job would be on the line. As long as people aren’t given sufficient impetus to change, they won’t. Brooke hasn’t had that happen yet (and she’s no stranger to beatdowns, anyway, so that’s probably not her trigger). We’ve seen shades of remorse from her in the past, but those were private moments. She was going to apologize for having an affair with Michael until his new wife said that she’d share for sake of the relationship, at which point Brooke said she should be better than that. Brooke does believe others should hold themselves to higher standards, she doesn’t apply those standards to herself. It just has to come down to her gaining a little more self esteem, being willing to look emotionally vulnerable in front of a crowd (where you lack natural charisma, that helps build rapport), and probably would help if Brooke got noticed by someone for talents other than her curves.
I like this conversation. If it plays out like so, Brooke is going to be worse than Square One and it was all because she had the near-impossible task of beating the reigning TV champion (also her friend and roommate). What would someone like Brooke do in that situation?
For the record, I consider this to be a swerve done right as opposed to a Russo ‘shocking swerve’. The key is that a swerve needs to be unexpected — I at least did not anticipate the Belles jumping Brooke — but on reflection it makes some kind of logical sense. Looking back, it seems clear that this whole thing was a test by the Belles to see if Brooke was worth their time. Did they set an unfair standard for her? Yes, yes they did, but Brooke was a risky proposition considering that she was an Upstart not long ago.
I also agree with Ciel that Brooke’s behavior definitely seems to be compensation for low self-esteem. She constantly needs to find something to prop herself up rather than examining herself. She’s been at her best when she was willing to admit to her shortcomings, and now she’s found herself worse off than when she started.
What would Brooke do? Well… I want to say that ideally, she’ll do as Ciel suggests and let people see the vulnerability she tries to hide, but her record so far makes me wonder if she’s willing to do that. She’s always been quick to embrace some ‘quick fix’, like a new gimmick, new stable, blaming someone else. We’ll see if this time will be any different.
Personally, I wouldn’t be surprised if Brooke weren’t even the real target of Kat Smith’s recruiting efforts.
Just a supposition here, but what really would be the appeal of Brooke to the Belles and to Kat in particular? Her devious nature is rather less of an asset given she’s a bit of a thicko. She was in the doghouse, meaning Kat probably had to expend some backstage capital to get Brooke the title shot. Now, dumb, obedient muscle is always useful to a group like HB, but Brooke’s only two out of three there, as she’s a huge diva.
Speaking of huge divas, I think Kat’s real recruit is Amanda Breaker. Dumb, obedient muscle seems to be the role she’s best suited for. It was probably just easier to recruit Brooke when she was down, following the wedding, then cut Brooke loose once Amanda had been brought into the fold.
I really think it’s going to be fun to find out. 😉

So, the Belle nursemaid Brooke through Dark Match Hell, including a number of beatdowns from her opponents. She manages to win a few and actually scores a title shot then… they dump her?
Who says she won a few? Maybe the title shot was a favor to someone.
I think it was page 6 where Sun wondered aloud if anyone else thought it was funny that Brooke’s first match out of dark match hell was a match against Krystin.
The reason behind her getting a title shot hasn’t be revealed but has been hinted at.
I just saw the VI. That is awesome art. But she better not be pulling my one of my signatures or we’ll be talking!

Not that this should influence your decision but a reader I saw at the Appleseed Con told me she didn’t think that Brooke belonged in Hell’s Belles. 😛
I just hope after all this, Brooke finally gets the break she really needs.
I can tell you honestly that Brooke has her fans that like you, want to see more of her, and possibly grow into a more serious character and competitor. As for that actually happening…I can that I have some fun stuff planned for her, but as I’ve said since the beginning of Chapter 7…expect EVERYONE to go through the meat grinder.
Is it true that “the meat grinder” is the catering staff’s nickname for Brenda?

Being large doesn’t necessarily mean much for one’s ability to take a punch. Or kick. And Sun’s got to have powerful legs to be as fast and agile as she is, so no shame in falling from one of her jump kicks directly to your face.
You know what would be awesome? If Brina came back in time to save Brooke and the Upstarts are joined once more in the center of the Ring 🙂
