The (short) return of Angel Soprano! You might remember that she was under the impression that she was Hell’s Belles. Looks like that’s not the case. Anyone surprised by Hell’s Belles reaction to Angel? And to whet your appetite for Monday, the return of Monica Rumble!
SHIMMER! Shimmer is this weekend and I’m only sorry that I can only make it on Saturday and not the whole weekend. If you have a front row seat, you might find yourself with some Rival Angels swag.;)
Voting Incentive! Rose of Manga is still doing sweet commissions dirt cheap here. To see her version of Krystin, Vote now!
Some of you have guessed this coming and here it is. Angel Soprano, the winner of the Bonus Life Battle Royal and by winning that, earned a way back into the tournament. You might remember (or click the link and see) that this is how Angel operates. She waits for her opponents to wear each other out and then strike. She quite literally picked her exact spot to enter this match and this is now a triple threat match. Though, by the looks of things this match is all but over. Last update, Sabrina looked like she had the match won by getting Xtina to tap, but that seems like an eternity ago. Xtina’s in no shape to break up the pinfall and the only thing the fans can do is express their frustration and unhappiness.
Here’s a quick 4-second YouTube clip of the Killshot:
At the end of 2009, Lora Innes created a non-profit group dedicated to shining a bright light on human trafficking (aka slavery). She got a bunch of webcomic creators together to draw a girl from their cast and she would assemble into a single wallpaper. 87 creators later and there’s a snazzy wallpaper gift for your donation. Without further ado, I will let Lora take it from here:
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.” -Margaret Mead
Monday, January 11th is National Human Trafficking Awareness Day. To participate, we formed the Comic Creator’s Alliance–a group of over eighty comic book creators (both web and print) who volunteered our artistic talents to raise money and awareness for this cause. You may not know it, but there are currently 27 million enslaved people worldwide- more than double the number of enslaved Africans during the trans-Atlantic slave trade. UNICEF estimates that 1.2 million children every year are sold into slavery, most of it sexual. The US Department of Justice estimates 16,000 victims of human trafficking are brought into the United States every year. Unlike slavery in the 19th century, what is happening today is happening in secret. So it won’t end until awareness is raised, and people like you and me take a stand.
So here’s what we did: each creator contributed an original drawing of one of our own female characters, and combined them into a single wallpaper image. The wallpaper features characters from The Phoenix Requiem, Girls with Slingshots, Earthsong, Looking for Group, Shadowgirls, The Uniques and four IDW Publishing titles: Fallen Angel, The Dreamland Chronicles, Love and Capes and The Dreamer, and lots, lots more! Donate today to download this unique, once-in-a-lifetime wallpaper. The Donations Drive will last for two weeks, from January 11th – 24th. All proceeds will be split evenly between Love146 and Gracehaven House- two organizations working on rehabilitation of victims and prevention of this crime.

Wha-ho! That sneaky little Angel Soprano pulled it off! Granted, she chilled outside of the ring ala Mr. Perfect so she TECHNICALLY didn’t cheat, but it really wasn’t very sporting of her. Don’t like it? Too bad!! She gets into the Television tournament, but which bracket she’ll pick is anybody’s guess. Or is it? After all, she can go and claim a spot in the Hell’s Belles too and I’m sure Chloe will have her own ‘recommendations’ for what bracket Angel should pick to enter the TV tournament.
Ah, poor Fran. I know she was a favorite of many of you and she would’ve had it but for that sneaky Soprano girl. You can tell by the fan reaction that Angel isn’t their favorite pick to win this.  The battle royal moved kind of quick but we know now who’s going to be in the next bracket of the TV tournament and the girls that are IN the TV tournament can’t say that.  Yet.Â
So did your pick to win the Battle Royal come through? XD
Next on Monday’s update: The return of the Upstart girls!! You remember them, the stars of the show? XD Well the Upstart girls and…an unexpected guest.
Anyone check out the Mickey Rourke movie, The Wrestler? Â If you have, check out my review of it over here and feel free to chime in with your thoughts on the film and the rumor that Rourke will be appearing at Wrestlemania this year.
Have a great weekend, we’ll see you back here on Monday.
Wow, that didn’t take long for it to degenerate into the proverbial, ‘Pier Six Brawl.’ And the real losers right now are Luna and Amanda Breaker. Their size makes them a target in the eyes of the smaller wrestlers, well, smaller than them anyways. Panel 1 is a fairly good microcosm of the attitudes and traits of all 10 ladies in the ring. Take that for what its worth.
Is the Battle Royal shaping up like *you* thought? We’ve barely started so there’s still a lot that can happen. While some of these girls are working together now, there can be only one winner.
And for anyone that might need a bit more clarification on how a battle royal works, I give you, straight from wikipedia , the definition of a battle royal: In professional wrestling, a battle royal (sometimes battle royale; plural battles royal or battle royals is a multi-competitor match type in which wrestlers are eliminated until one is left and declared winner. Typical battle royals begin with 10,15, 20 participants in the ring, who are then eliminated by being thrown over the top rope and having both feet touch the venue floor.
Contest Update!
Wow! Lots of entries for this one, I have to admit it made me smile.  And you still have time to enter, you have until Tuesday night, 11:55pm! Win yourself one of the few remaining print copies of Rival Angels #1 and a sketch of your favorite angel from me.  One teeny tiny little observation, only a few entrants so far got the right winners of the upcoming TV tournament brackets, but fewer still have answered the winner of the Bonus Life Battle Royal. Intrigued? I knew you would. XD
That’s a collection of some serious dames in the ring. 10 women, only 1 winner. Any ideas or thoughts on who’s going to win this one? Amanda Breaker certainly has a height and weight advantage. Zombie Luna and Lover Lola are tag team partners. Lil Alexandria is crazy and nobody(!) likes Rampage. The only true ‘face’ or good guys in this are Shannon McCourt and Veronica Silver. The rest aren’t afraid to bend or outright break the rules.Â
So who’s going to win?
Â
CONTEST TIME!!
Round One of the TV Tournament is in full effect. We know that Katherine Smith (of Hell’s Belles) has moved on to round two by beating Monica Rumble, but there’s still three matches and the Battle Royal. So what does this have to do with the contest? Everything!

Just answer who’ll win between:
-’Bombshell’ Victoria Buckingham vs Josephine York.
-’Sassy Schoolgirl’ Sara Valentine vs Xtina Carpenter.
