Sabrina seems to be making friends. Barely in town for an hour and she’s being asked to wrestle on that night’s card? Should she be worried or flattered? What do you make of Matsumora? Is he like Gabrielle in a good or a bad way?

She’s certainly that. She’s never been happy that Sabrina leap frogged her out of developmental.
Hopefully Matsumora is not like Gabrielle at all!
Ideally, he will recognize when he had good talent and will try to protect it, rather than throw it to the sharks, and toss it away when it comes out on top.
Were this actual stuff on TV, I might well stop following Gabby’s fed if she kept pulling crap like this.

Battling Ring Angels? Seriously? Couldn’t have come up with anything else? I suppose all the good ones were taken.
Anyway, I agree with Zodo about hoping Matsumora will do right by Sabrina instead of the ratings. Ratings are good, yes, but what good is a talented rookie if they get beat up and have to retire within their first year?
What kind of name were you expecting from a Japanese fed?
Something not in English that makes more sense in Japanese but might translate into Battling Ring Angels anyway? I dunno. I don’t really watch Japanese feds, just individuals.
Battling Ring Angels is a nod to an e-fed that me and the Mrs were briefly a part of once upon a time. Matsumora is the big boss, but we’re going to see that Atlas has a certain amount of pull too. Kind of like another federation on cable TV. 😉

I did! Though, I admit I had to look up medias res. 😛 I can tell you that I’m setting up the chapters like comic book issues now, and that we’ll be getting some high wrestling action before the end of chapter 1.

You know how some of the fed names in Japan don’t translate well to English. Battle Ring Angels probably sounds a lot better in Japanese. Looking at the meaning alone, I like it.
Is Matsumora like Gabrielle? I think he’s going to put Sabrina through the wringer just like Gabrielle did but that he’ll have a little more respect for her rather than treating her like some prize show animal. Nothing against Gabby but she’s pretty cutthroat when she doesn’t have to be.
I’m eager to see how this turns out. Sabrina’s a tough girl but some of Japan’s joshi redefine tough, taking serious bumps and beating the crap out of each other. When (not if) she survives Battling Ring Angels and returns to Rival Angels, a lot of people are gonna have to change their opinion of Ultragirl bloody quick.
As to the pronunciation of Battling Ring Angels…precisely. And you’re right on about Joshi toughness. I’ve been lucky to see some of the Joshi girls in person at the SHIMMER shows and they, of course, are amazing. Kana!!! Sabrina willd definitely learn a lot, if it doesn’t break her.

we can’t see Brenda, Hell’s Belles, Catgirls.. since Sabrina is not in rival angels anymore
RA will still be there- we have to find out what Sun/Krystin and Brooke are up to after all. but i’m guessing we’ll be in japan for several weeks worth of brina stuff- then back to RA to see what everyone else is up to while Brina’s gone, then back to Brina and so on.
Yeah, that is the plan-ish. Obviously, Rival Angels, the organization will go on without Sabrina and Rival Angels the comic has always been about Sabrina, Sun, Krystin and Brooke. But, that’s not to say we won’t see other girls in Sabrina’s storyline. I mean, Golden Girl plans on visiting and wouldn’t it be great to see Callie over there? 😉

so i guess BRA wants to see if Gabby just tossed them some useless jobber meat or if Brina really has what it takes to hang here. ((also sounds oddly like how Erin got all of her first matches too- <shows up- hey you have a match in ten minutes…”what?!?”> ;P )).
Brina’s response sems a bit overdramatic in the VI- reminded me of some southern Belle in the early 1800s who just heard some guy say something slightly indelicate “mah word, i grow faint at your leudness sir!” 😉

Albone-san, thank you ever so much for the mental image of Mastumora-san in Strappy Italian Boots. But yeah, I’d say they’re throwing her to the sharks. Fortunately, she’s done alright with that management style in the past…
More like fine Italian shoes. Nobody rocks the strappies like Gabrielle but maybe Yvonne could give her a run for her money. You are right about Sabrina being able to swim with the sharks in that sort of environment before.
It is odd that Sabrina’s career was directly into a female-only outfit. She’s never worked any truly indy route before either. Girl has so little clue how the biz works.
Ignorance is bliss! Of course, she’s about to get an education in that as a part of Battling Ring Angels, which is a part of the Millennium Wrestling Alliance.

A place in Japan called the Battling Ring Angels? That wouldn’t be a nod to the tagteam from the 80s, The Jumping Bomb Angels… would it?
I was a big fan of their feud with Judy Martin and Lei Lani Kai, but Battling Ring Angels was an e-fed that I was a part of a nod to it.
