Not a bad start for the team of Sabrina and Sun. Starting with some good spirited fun at the expense of Josephine and Franchesca York’s patience, the Upstart girls have the advantage. Can Sun and Sabrina hold it? Or will the York’s take control? If nothing else, the crowd is getting quite a show.
It’s true that Sabrina went to Penn State on a Rugby scholarship and for those that are interested, she played the halfback position.

I still got the dark clouds that Sabrina Mancini and ‘Sun Wong will lose..maybe the story pattern.. ‘Aphrodite’ Brooke Lennox and Krysin Moline won, so Sun and Sabrina will lose.. I just followed the pattern of Brooke and Krystin loss against the Catgirls, while Sun won against Sara Valentine, also Sabrina won against Loretta Diaz..
another bad omen is on panel 2.. they’re play paper, rock and scissor to start the match.. their attitude is like they’re underestimating York Sisters..

I like the Hogan reference in panel one, i think it suits Brina pretty well. Im just sad that she didnt keep it up by ripping her shirt off. Still, theres always page 243

One thing i do object to, is how on earth does Sun lose at rock paper scissors? cant she just ninja her way to a rock there? Bribri would never know and then we all get to see whether the gold card girls are capable of slaying a dragon. But i get the feeling that EITHER Suns coming in on friday OR the Yorks get Bribri cornered on their side and dont let her tag. Ultradragon might be better prepared than Krys and Brooke but the golden duo are so much more experienced in tag team that this kind of domination HAS to be short lived

One question though, in panel 4 is the comment about the irish whip supposed to come first? only it seems to fit better if that comes before explaining how she can tell them apart

‘Ultragirl’ Sabrina Mancini and ‘Shinobi’ ‘Lil Dragon’ Sun Wong.. best of friends, both high flyers (check), coordination and precision (unknown), prepared (check), practice or spar before the match (unknown), seek advice to a better Tag Team like the Catgirls (Unknown)..
there’s a possible of Dejavu in match.. upstarts losing in Tag Team.. 70-30 ratio in favor for the York Sister to win.. I like Sabrina and Sun to win.. it’s one of the best tag combination, but odd are not in their favor.. speically Sun Tag Sabrina in.. Sabrina leaps on the top turnbuckle, while Sun executed a shining wizard on Francesca York, then Sabrina executed the Ultrasplash.
or Sabrina executed an Ultrakick on Francesca, then Sun executed her finisher ‘Atomic Fusion’ (Shuriken Elbow) on Francesca..
why?
1. Sun will get conscience attack in the middle of the match (possibly)
2. York Sister just fight as they were, while Sun is holding back a bit (Conscience Attack)
3. when Sabrina heard the truth, adrenaline falls down on Sabrina!
4. York Sisters more expirience in Tag Team than ‘Ultragirl’ Sabrina Mancini and Sun Wong combine.
5. Switch-a-roo tactics.. even great tag teams and referee got deceived by the switch a roo tactics.. Basham Brothers for example.. I don’t know if the Bushwacker did a switch a roo tactics?

so let’s say if in the middle of the match.. York Sister told that they didn’t bully Sun, the question is.. will ‘Ultragirl’ Sabrina Mancini abandon Sun? leaving Sun to lose.. ( that will be a heel act) but Sabrina won’t be heel in this story..
I can’t watch the entrance movie. Hopefully it’s not something that start with ‘When it comes crashing down and hurt inside …..’ LOL! (panel 1 reference)

Great action boss! I love the tension in the lock up. And I can hear the boards drumming!
But Brina went to Penn State? I KNEW she was a dang Yankee!
I think entrance music for Sun and Sabrina isn’t powerful enough for Sun and Sabrina.. isn’t enough power.. sorry!
The upstarts are certainly brimming with confidence, and really get off to a strong start. I don’t think they’ll squash, though, and when the tempo of the match swings to the Yorks, the Upstarts may have some difficulty regaining the upperhand.
Good visualization of the action so far. I like Franchesca hugging her sister for support after getting nailed. Classic heel tag team move.
I love the Volcano Girls song. I’ve liked it ever since I attended the Volcano Girls women’s wrestling show put on by IWS-MS. (IWA-MS women’s division is the direct predecessor to Shimmer. Dave Prazak was the one who pushed the women’s division, and when he left IWA-MS, he founded Shimmer)

Oh, I also meant to mention that I like the comment about telling the Yorks apart by how they part their hair.
It’s certainly easier than telling apart the Bella Twins, whom you can only see a difference in that one has a tattoo on her lower abdomen that peeks above her waistline. I still haven’t locked down which one it is that has the tattoo. The announcers never mention it. I wonder if she wears her pants like that so that the officials and announcers CAN tell the difference.
Francesca has to tag out after taking one clothesline? That’s it? Kind of weak, it’s not Bradshaw’s Clothesline from Hell, it’s a 130 lb woman. (Granted, in real life that can really knock the wind out of you, but in wrestling with all the bumps they take, a clothesline is pretty far down on the list of devastating moves.)
Kudos for the entrance music, Veruca Salt is the kind of chick attitude that Sabrina and Sun have shown. Plus I hadn’t heard that in a long time so it was fun to play that video.
Anyway, WWE logic states that if you lose before the PPV, you win at the big show, and vice versa. So as I strongly think Sabrina will be the TV champion, she is not picking up the win. However, Sun can get the pinfall, which would advance her storyline with Damage Inc.

Hey MGC, no telling who’s going to win this match, but I’m glad its got you thinking. Â Sabrina and Sun are starting off pretty well though. Unless it’s a goof on my part, you’ll know that a tag has been made with the TAG sound effect. So no, Fran’s still in. You have lots of different scenarios there. Â Could one of them happen? Â Could be. Â XD Â I’m dying to know if Sabrina finds out about Sun’s lie.

 Or maybe ninja’d the lil ninja?  Judging by the look on Sun’s face, no one was more surprised than her. Good predictions for Friday’s updates, I always love reading reader’s insights into the match. As to panel 4, honestly, I was channeling JR.  It seemed how it might happen.

 I felt ‘Volcano Girls’ summed up Sun and Sabrina nicely.  Prazak is the MAN with SHIMMER.  I haven’t missed a show since I found out about it late 2007. Actually, you can tell the Bellas apart.  Nikki’s face is a bit more angular in the nose and the cheeks.  I’ll have to check again about the tattoo.
No tag for Fran yet, Ken. Â Look for the TAG sound effect to show up during tags. Â This will be important over the course of the match.
 Another Volcano Girls fan!  I agree the chick attitude fits nicely with Sabrina and Sun.  Your WWE logic is good.  It’ll be fun seeing if its how it plays out or not.Â

Meant to say something before, but back in page 237, the ref said there’s no instant replay in wrestling. However, I can remember a time or two in WCW where the ref looked at the replay and restarted the match. Usually because someone had their feet on the ropes.
Id like to see Ultradragon pull of some nice tag team moves. I can almost picture them workin up some early Hardy Boyz combos to show off a bit of airtime. Maybe something like an ultrakick / shooting star (well, shooting Sun maybe

tcorbett, wrestling has always been a inconsistent with that rule. Â It seems they only ever did it to provide a new wrinkle to a match. Â For now, in Rival Angels, there isn’t any instant replay. Â Until I need to throw a new wrinkle into a match. Â :P

Fun fact: Penn State had a Pro Wrestling club that ran a promotion called Nittney Valley Wrestling on campus for a number of years. It later became affiliated with the popular Philadelphia indy promotion CHIKARA Pro Wrestling, which put on a few shows there.
Bovy, I did not know that! Â That’s awesome. Â I love CHIKARA and hope to see it live some day soon and that’s wild that they were hooked up with them.
Research is tellling me that apparently, Penn State was the only college to have its own pro wrestling promotion, and a professor taught a class in pro wrestling history there, making it even more coincidential that the main character of a wrestling comic went to school there.
Is it coincidence or phenomenon? XD Â I might have to include that little tidbit into Sabrina’s backstory. Â Thanks for the info!
