Lots of cool discussion on banned moves. I remember when Papi Cholo and Taka Mitchanoku were allowed to do some crazy stunts, but long are those days. TNA and the indy feds still get away with doing quite a bit. I remember this insane move that Elix Skipper did. Crazy.

Salazen, like I said it wasn't much....'teasing' as you put it, but with some intent behind it.

Ken, I hope you'll find to your liking that there are not that many moves banned in Rival Angels. :) Countout? There's always that danger, but I think Sabrina learned her lesson about that from her match with Susy Love. ;)

Hey Shredster, glad you're digging the match! Thanks for the kind words too. Cool prediction, let's see if it comes to pass! And yeah, the heel tag teams that console each other are a great bit in wrestling. :)

That's kind of what I was getting at regarding the SOME exceptions, PS2kid. The exceptions to the piledriver ban list in WWE is very small. It does seem strange they won't let Lawler use his, as if anyone knows how to do one without hurting his opponent, it's an old hand like him. But he's not a full-time wrestler, so I suppose they don't really feel the need to make the exception.

I'm not arguing at all for wide-open rerelease of these moves... they are indeed dangerous if performed incorrectly, or are TAKEN incorrectly (remember that it takes two to do a move, one giving it, one taking it, and I can imagine the one taking it needs to know how to minimize the damage to himself before going into it). But I do think that if someone is demonstrably proficient with the move, like 'Taker with the tombstone, they should be allowed. Still, I can see why they are leery of opening Pandora's Box even a crack there.

Wow, a great match so far. Awesome work on the artwork + wrestling credibility once again albone :) Have to say, I disagree with all the comments about Kat Smith and Jen Needles. Heel tag teams always do this kind of thing, it riles up the crowd, and sets them up for air attacks on both at once. As we've seen from the SSP :D

My prediction for the rest: The Rookie Posse (Except for "Aphrodite" of course) comes out to check on Ultragirl, and Chloe comes out to stop them. While Kat and Chloe are both preoccupied, quick counter in the ring, single power move, and ULTRASPLASH! :D Can't wait for Friday.

Piledriver is still banned in WWE. Otherwise, Jerry Lawler could use it if he stepped in the ring for a match. But now he's just using Diving Fist Drop as his finisher. Tombstone Piledriver however is not banned, as we can still see Undertaker (and ocassionaly Kane) use it often to finish all of his opponent.

450 Splash & Shooting Star Press is banned because last time those moves were used by Paul London & Juventud Guerrera, they ended up injuring their opponent. Evan Bourne however managed to convince the management that he will be able to execute the move perfectly (and beautifully) each time, thus the management give him the green light to use that move.

Another example of banned moves in WWE: Vertebreaker (used by Hurricane Helms before) and Crippler Crossface (used by "he-who-must-not-be-mentioned-in-WWE", although lately HHH & HBK used the move as normal submission not finisher)

I'm a bit torn on the moves that have been mostly banned from WWE. Piledrivers.  The SSP. There ARE exceptions (Undertaker being the biggest example), and I understand the reasoning: these moves are dangerous if not done properly. That said... people should I think get the chance to learn to do them right. At least in one sense the piledriver's regained some of it's mystique -- few moves aside from the DDT have undergone such degradation from match-enders to transition moves.
