Sabrina’s got a deep sense of optimism here, but don’t hold it against her, at least for not thinking the worst of her roommate and someone that has to her face, been a friend. We know differently, don’t we?
And now Brooke has Michael absolutely, hook, line and sinker . There’s no telling how far a girl like Brooke can go with the Assistant to the Commissioner under her thumb.
There was supposed to be some hints in panel 5 that Sun and Sabrina were walking by the very room that was occupied by Brooke and Michael, but I had to cover it up with my wordiness. My eyes were bigger than my stomach, in trying to get 8 panels AND some dialogue. More’s the pity!

So “Shinobi” “Lil Dragon” Sun Wong finally told Sabrina about Brooke’s plan. the question is how will Sabrina use it? will Sabrina ask Brooke, “Brooke, I heard Sun. told me that she overheard that your gonna get me fired?” if Sabrina asked Brooke about that, sure Sun will be in trouble 🙁

Panel 5: Sun said “I hate to break Brooke’s skull to white meat”. can Sun really do it? I mean Brooke destoryed Sun in the fatal four way, and I don’t question SUn’s courage. Sun is fearless, but can she handle Brooke.
Panel 6: Brooke is in a yellow robe. where did she get that? the yellow robe? if Brooke wore’s black robe, she’ll looks like Rangiku Matsumoto from the anime Bleach.

I wonder if Brooke did those thing, in the development territory.. I mean, the trainer in the development territory called Brooke a “GoDDess”. then Brooke told the trainer that she is ready for pro, the trainers decided that she go to Rival Angel.

Thinking of what’s gonna happen in Rival ANgels..I like to think this will happen. coz since it’s in commercial break. I like to see, Sabrina and Sun bumb into the Hell’s Belle. Chloe provoke Sabrina a little, Sun tried to help, but Katherine and Jennifer grab Sun’s arm. Sabrina is a litttle bit scared there, then Chloe holds Sabrina’s left arm, then Chloe press it, crrkk!.. Sabrina screamed in pain.. Sun shouted “Sabrina!” Then Sabrina kneeled down in pain, then Chloe, Jen and Kat walk towards the ring leaving SUn and Sabrina. (Chances of this happen 2%)
or maybe Sun and Sabrina heard some ruckus in that room, they decide to take a look, in which they saw Brooke and Michael. (Chances this will happen 10%)

Quick comment on the Brooke and “The Weasel” panels. I know it is suppose to be that they are in a room with little light, but it looks more like they are in a room “wired for sound”, and are being watched by someone on a CCTV monitor. But I could be wrong of course.
Forgot to Add, a comment for M.G.C, I do not think that was every suppose to be a robe that the Brooke character is wearing but the canary yellow shirt, the Weasel was wearing. Basically showing that she would be nude if not for his shirt. That is why the character’s body is darkly colored in the next panel, to show she is nude and on top of him again, but keeps it “classy” I believe the word is. Or maybe appropriate would be a better word to use.
What’s up with Panel 6 and Panel 8. Panel 6, we saw necktie and a blacksuit on the couch and a portrait. Panel 8. all gone even the portrait.. did they change location?

There’s one thing I forgot.. I think Krystin, saying that she won’t be a part of any of Brooke’s scheme. could it be? could it be.. Krystin have more devious plan. Fatal Four way, Krystin said “This was my plan” Krystin’s plan to spike vertebreaker on Sabrina. in which Failed, thanks to the medling “Shinobi” “Lil Dragon” Sun Wong. and the tag team. Krystin acted as the leader.
Could this be that, Krystin is just acting as she don’t want to be involve, when the time to strike, there she’ll strike in which firing Sabrina.. Krystin has been silent most of the time, so in whcih we don’t know what’s she’s thinking and what she capable of.

if that situation comes into play.. what will Krystin answer? Will Krystin, tell the truth? or will Krystin lie? or Krystin will play safe. answering “I don’t know,” or “I forgot”
if Krystin will ask Sabrina “Where did you hear that?” if Sabrina answered “Sun told me.” Sun would be in trouble.. Krystin will think, Sun is suspecting Krystin for firing Sabrina. Krystin will have more hate for Sun.
There could be trouble in the upstart apartement rather than the in “Rival ANgels Arena”
If the problem is hot in the upstart’s apartment.. how would Sabrina focus on training, not only that Sabrina’s next opponent is “The Red Maiden” Jennifer Needles? can Sabrina protect Sun if she’s in trouble? surely Sun is really protecting Sabrina, even such as lightweight.. interesting… interesting
I really want to know what’s on Michael’s mind.. picking on Brooke and calling her a GoDDess.. Brooke isn’t the prettiest in Rival Angels..she could pick “The Red Maiden” Jennifer Needles is more prettier than Brooke.. or maybe “Ultragirl” Sabrina Mancini is more prettier than Brooke.. Tsk Tsk..

Why not fire Brooke? with without the set up scheme? Reason, could be Commissioner Gabrielle doesn’t have the right evidence to fire Brooke. so she think of a scheme to fire Brooke, and this..

Krystin currently has no serious ties of loyalty towards Brooke. So, if she does indeed have her own plan against Sabrina, the best thing for her to do at the moment is to play it cool.
If Sbrina and Sun confront her with the “Evil Brooke” story, just admit that Brooke told her but she wanted nothing to do with it. Then Krystin could help Sabrina and sun to set up Brooke, thus gaining Sabrina’s trust.
Also, this turn of events would confirm to Krystin that Sun is firmly in Sabrina’s corner. An important piece of information for her further schemeing.

Well, Brooke had enough time to take off that shirt again (which looks like it’s buttoned up in panel 6), so there’s no reason why they couldn’t have cleared the remaining scattered wardrobe from the couch as well (probably more by accident then by design.
About the picture… yeah, that should be visible in panel 8, but most of it would be obscured by the speech bubbles anyway, so who cares?
MGC, I see the similarities between our not-so little Brooke and Rangiku Matsumoto. Heh. As far as Brooke’s reversal in confidence, when she first saw Michael in the hall she was not in control. Currently, she is in control, hence the confidence. We’re going to find out more about each girl’s time in developmental soon and I’m glad you liked the Voting Incentive. Jamie did an awesome job. As far as the drama in the rookie house, its definitely going to be coming to a head. Gabrielle is the absolute authority in Rival Angels, so she doesn’t need to sucker anyone into getting fired.
ps2kid, yeah, the silhouette of Brooke is to imply that she’s naked. I didn’t feel it was necessary to show her in all her glory. Maybe later. 😛
Mike, ‘appropriate’ is a good way to put it and that’s a big right-o about the shirt. 😉 Is the room wired? I would guess not, but that doesn’t mean people won’t find out about the tryst going on.
JackAce, right on with Michael’s shirt. I’m glad that came off. No real excuses for the lack of details in the last panel, other than the main point of the panel was Brooke and Michael. (I need Roller Derby Fan to come and comment on it. 😛 ) And whether Krystin has her own scheme cooking or not, how you laid it out would be the best way for Krystin to handle it. If I’m not mistaken, next page has us taking a longer look at Krystin, Sun and Sabrina.
And with all of the talk of whether or not Krystin has a scheme brewing, I’m wondering if anyone has thought about why Gabrielle would insist on Michael going to inform Brooke of their impromptu meeting. She could have sent anyone else, even Marina. But that’s crazy thinking, right? O-o
Another episode where the drama is happening in the characters’ minds; this works ’cause in this comic the people HAVE minds.
Great depiction of uncertainty and concern in Sabrina’s expression, her eyebrows start to arch back down in panel four… too bad it’s false confidence as I don’t for a moment think Brooke is gonna just give up…
Something I’m wondering about… is Michael really totally under Brooke’s control or is her manipulating her into thinking that? I suppose we’ll find out in due time. M.G.C’s question is a good one, has Brooke been ‘sleeping upward’ to gain promotion? I suppose if Brooke has a thought like “Weakling Fool! Another victim of my Super Assets!! But it’s okay seeing as I *am* a GoDDess” then we’ll know.
M.G.C. has another question; is Michael’s behaviour part of a plan for the Commissioner to fire Brooke? I don’t think so… at this point in Brooke’s career I would think her employment at Rival Angels is “at will” so Gabrielle doesn’t need a reason to fire her. If Brooke is bad for ratings ( I suppose a busty blonde really draws in the young men demographic ) then she’d be out the door and mostly forgotten by next week, until the issue of Playboy with her pictures hits the newsstands.
I think Brooke’s …uh… side trip with Michael is for blackmail; the “if I get fired Gabby will ditch you for romping with an employee” gambit is quite likely. I don’t know the details of Illinois labor laws but I imagine that Commissioner would rather do a quiet payoff than deal with a sexual harassment lawsuit. I find the long term implications of all this speculation disturbing… let’s just see what the meeting with the Commissioner brings.
I’ve been busy this week, I really like to comment, but it can take forty five minutes to compose them. Voting only take a couple minutes and i almost always have time for that.
Wow, Alan I was putting together my comment starting about half an hour before you posted yours!
I didn’t comment on the vanishing picture in the last panel, I didn’t see a need to do that. I certainly noticed it’s absence; I just chalked it up to “who would notice a picture when there’s a buxom naked girl in the room?”
I’ve posted before a theory that Rival Angels the comic is drawn from a ‘what you would remember if you were there’ perspective; the art has that style from my point of view.
To answer the question, “Why did Gabrielle send Michael?” I always thought that had two parts:
He represents authority ( does he have much of his own? doubt it )
and
Fetching people for meetings is part of his job.

This is going to get reallly interesting. Sabrina seemed to dismiss Sun’s worries out of hand. She’s looking and sounding way to certain that she knows what’s up with Brooke. She may have the competitive streak to be vicious in the ring when she needs it, like the Ultrakick and calling Diaz a bitch, but I think she’s got too much of the babyface idealism in her real life. She does trust Brooke from what I can tell.
Right now anyway. We’ll have to see.
On the flip side, Sun is much more aware of how Brooke is and is far less trusting. Yeah, she’s putting it on the back burner, so to speak, but she doesn’t strike me as the type to fall for Brooke’s act. -She’s- going to be watching her friend’s back and that sell proclaimed heel streak may well show. I haven’t forgotten page 35 where they talked about it. 😀
Do we have a power vs speed feud looming where it’s -just- Sun and Brooke? If so, how will it go? I’m sure some are rooting for Brooke and think her power will dominate, but I think Sun has the advantage here. She’ll be hard to hit solidly unless she makes a mistake, and she’ll have a solid gameplan where Brooke will come in swinging for the fences and expect raw power to win. Brooke does have one advantage: her worshiper. He might be able to influence matches to where she can limit Sun’s mobility, like a cage or a dog collar matchup. Still, I think Sun will out-maneuver Brooke and withstand the power abuse long enough to surprise her if it happens.
Quick note, I’m sure Sun has admitted to it also, but 35 is the announcer mentioning it instead of her. If I had more time, I’d find the page I’m thinking of, or admit I’m wrong. For now, 35 is close enough.
I wonder if Brooke played the big guns a little pre-maturely. Do we know what the meeting is about yet? Does she?

RDF, I’m thrilled you read Rival Angels, the voting and commenting are gravy. 🙂 Oooh, some good questions and observations here. I really want to spill, but that would spoil and we can’t have that. I will say that while Brooke is doing improv, its not without experience. Michael was totally cool until Brooke turned the charm on, and he hasn’t been able to turn off since. That meeting is coming shortly now but from a timeline perspective will happen after the Monica/Katherine match.
Wearing my writers hat, Salazen, your comments about Sabrina make me smile because you’ve got the right read on her. Sabrina’s hoping that Brooke wouldn’t do something like that rather than believing it. And great read on Sun and excellent memory. Page 30 has an exchange with Marina and Sun where they talk about her heel tendencies and dead on about Jeff praising Sun’s rule breaking so good memory. Your thoughts on a possible Sun vs Brooke match are all sound and actually not too far from where I’ve had my own thoughts on the matter, depending of course where this all leads to ultimately.

Hey. Considering we seem to share a lot of opinions about a lot of things, I wonder if you’ve got plans for one of my favorite sorts, when done right, to show up in Rival Angels. The monster heel.
I don’t mean a She-Kane. I mean someone like Awesome Bomb, or far better go old school and get a Bull Nakano type. She was truly a monster. Not only was she powerful and hard to move, but she was technically sound. Her combination of a reverse sharpshooter and a camel clutch was just painful to look at.
You know… maybe that would be good for when the Commish learns what Double DDelight Brooke has been doing in the empty offices. 😉 Suitable punishment, methinks.
I love the sharing of opinions. Three monsters come to mind and all of them are in the Bonus Life Battle Royal and we’ll see one of them around….Halloween. I love Awesome Kong and Bull Nakano and think they make awesome monster heels so expect some similar tendencies.
Where are the black women wrestler in this comics. I love Ultragirl and the others I would like to see a African American in the Rival Angels ring as well, please. Tahnks
